This T206 Piedmont (150 subjects, factory 25) card shows superlative Giants hitter Mike Donlin in a fielding pose, with hands on knees. While many players with a career .333 average found their way to Cooperstown, Mike's drinking, temper, and vaudeville acting aspirations wore out his welcome for several clubs. Donlin lasted longest in New York, sandwiching a handful of excellent seasons and 1905 World Series win around lengthy breaks for acting tours. His friendship with Hollywood legend John Barrymore led to a second career as screen star, often in roles that took advantage of his sporting skills. This PSA FR 1.5 grade reflects corner rounding, diagonal creases, and edge darkening on the reverse.
