Two attractive examples from this popular prewar set. M116s were distributed in envelopes containing 12-card series. This collection contains two of the three available card backs both of which are clean and with no paper loss. The Bill Carrigan graded NM-MT 8 (MK) by PSA is gorgeous but with a marked letter "C" in the lower-right corner. The card also has a fold in the upper left corner rendering the NM-MT grade inaccurate. The Carrigan features a Type 2 back. The second card in the collection is that of Boss Schmidt of Detroit graded VG/EX 50 by SGC with some corner and edge wear befitting the grade and an otherwise strong front. Schmidt features a Type 1 back. The M116 Sporting Life set while plentiful is not as widely-collected as many other issues of the era. As such graded populations are typically very low despite the cards being relatively plentiful. They are however beautiful cards from the dawn of the hobby.
