Outstanding Aladen-brand warmup jacket attributed to Clyde King, but possibly having belonged to Yankees centerfielder Bernie Williams.
The jacket, which dates between 1976 and 1988, is a navy blue size 42 jacket, the interlocking NY on the left breast. The jacket originates from the estate of former Yankees executive Clyde King, and was not purported to be anything other than his jacket, however, handwriting inside the collar indicates the possibility that the jacket was subsequently worn by Williams. The inscription in the MEARS LOA reads as follows:
Clyde King served in a number of front office and coaching roles with the New York Yankees from circa 1976 through 1988. "BW 51" handwritten in collar with Bernie Williams joining the Yankees in 1991 wearing #51 introducing the possibility of wear by Williams at the outset of his career, though MEARS cannot conclusively make that attribution as the 51 has been written over another number with a different notation also blacked out on the tag.
Regardless, the jacket originated from the estate of Clyde King and is an authentic Yankees jacket, worn at least by King, and possibly by Bernie as well. LOA from MEARS.
