Stunning football-themed display, measuring approximately 10" x 5 1/4" x 8 3/4" high, depicting a stylized football in the center, with engraved football players in an action scene. The football sits atop a stylized football field, with floral accents engraved into each segment. Silver-plated goal posts are screwed into each end of the piece. The underside is backed with blue velvet felt.
The football has a hinged opening, with the bottom half of the ball a hollow area for the storage of jewelry or trinkets. The top half is a wind-up music box. The music box mechanism still functions properly, winding it up produces the song "Chicago, That Toddlin' Town," which was originally published in 1922. A truly beautiful and ornate football-themed display piece.
