Likely dating to the late 1940s or early 1950s this oversized chalk scoreboard advertises Griesedieck Brothers Light Lager Beer. The St. Louis-based Griesedieck was an early sponsor of Cardinals radio broadcasts until the team was purchased by Anheuser-Busch in 1953. The sign in what is likely its original wood frame measures a very large 48" by 24" with painteg graphics over a chalkboard intended for bartenders to track the scores of up to two baseball games. In apparent excellent condition a closer inspection reveals wear consistent with its age including mounting holes chalk remnants and overall scraping and wear to the frame itself. Still a lovely display piece.
