The second of a three-year run of baseball cards featuring PCL players, that were distributed inside popcorn boxes at the concession stands at Lane Field Park, then home of the San Diego Padres. The cards were printed on thin stock, the checklist occasionally including multiple poses of its players. Due to the regional nature of their distribution, the set was weighted heavily towards San Diego players. The cards issued in 1950 were all printed in black and white, and while some of the cards are blank-backed, many include an advertisement and brief biographical or career highlights.
Collector-grade example featuring Harry Simpson, who played three years with the Philadelphia Stars of the Negro National League, and 11 seasons in the majors with six major league teams. Graded GOOD 2 by SGC, the card does exhibit some soiling and surface wear, but is a difficult card of a player very familiar to collectors of postwar baseball cards.
