Measuring 19 3/4" x 12" and mounted to heavy board this beautiful Type 1 silver gelatin photo depicts the Milwaukee Brewers of the 1919 American Association. The team which for a brief period featured Hall of Fame pitcher Ed Walsh (not pictured in the photo sadly) did include a large number of future major leaguers. The most notable such player may be Johnny Mostil who is pictured just to the right of the gentleman in the suit. Mostil had a ten-year career with the White Sox during which he compiled a .301 batting average and a .386 on base percentage finishing second in the 1926 MVP voting. The photo itself has seen better days having been at some point rolled into a tube (and thus exhibiting creasing associated with such storage. A large tear originates at the right edge and traverses straight to the center of the photo. Also notable is the cardboard backing to which the photo has been mounted missing the upper-right corner and trimmed to a size of approximately 20" x 16". Still an excellent display-worthy piece featuring a host of future major leaguers at the beginning of their careers. Authenticated by noted photo expert David Rudd Cycleback.
