In response to Allen & Ginter's "World Champions" issues, Goodwin & Co. produced a 50-card set of sports-related subjects which included eight baseball players. The set's stunning lithography ranks it among the most beautiful baseball trading card issues ever produced, and it is the opinion of more than a few collectors that this particular card - the N162 King Kelly - is the hobby's single most beautiful baseball card. The famous Boston catcher set against a stormy backdrop creates a color palette better suited to be mounted above a fireplace than in someone's card collection, as this card is truly a work of art. Graded VG 3 (MK) by PSA, the card exhibits some edge and corner wear and very light soiling that detract from the technical grade, but the eye appeal is extraordinary. The MK qualifier is the result of lightly erased pencil markings on the reverse. In recent years this card has exploded in value as its rarity and beauty make an attractive combination for advanced collectors. Simply a beautiful card.
