The PC796 issue is one of the most visually appealing and widely
collected postcard sets featuring baseball players of the period. Issued
in 1910 by an unknown manufacturer, this set mirrors the Novelty
Cutlery postcard set and uses many images seen in different baseball
card and baseball supplement sets.
Graded an SGC EX 5, this example shows New York's Al Bridwell in a great action pose, ready to scoop up a
grounder. This card presents nicer than its technical grade and shows
only minor surface wear along the left edge, with some small spots of staining on the postally unused reverse. Overall this
is a very nice postcard that retains gorgeous visual appeal.
SGC has
only ever graded 17 total examples of this 1910 PC796 postcard, with only ONE receiving a higher grade than the EX 5 offered
here of Al Bridwell.
