Unquestionably, whenever Ruth's likeness appears in a baseball card set during his playing years it automatically becomes the set's key card. It is no exception with 1929 Kashins, as the value of Ruth's card eclipses that of all the others despite its plentiful nature in comparison with the other cards in the set. With well over 100 copies graded the Babe Ruth is by far the highest population card in the set and yet the condition sensitivity of the cards results in just a handful of cards graded NM-MT - and none higher. The reason for its higher population relative to the set is that the cards were distributed in four different packs, with the Ruth card included in each pack (other cards - Hadley, Haines, Siebold and Todt, were pulled from the boxes to accommodate Ruth, making them scarce "single prints"). Despite this, the total population of Kashin Ruths in grading company pop reports is tiny in comparison with his popular mainstream issues.  This example, conservatively graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, exhibits some minor wear and is centered very slightly to the right. The card does, however, appear superior in condition to many R316 cards we have handled at the EX 5 level.
