One of the most rare of the N172 Hall of Famers this highly desirable card (#123-1) of "Big Ed" Delahanty was issued during his first season with the then-Philadelphia Quakers. Delahanty hit a dismal .228 that season in 290 at bats but returned in 1889 with a much stronger season propelling himself to a 16-year career and a .346 lifetime batting average. One of the most sought-after and popular 19th Century players among collectors today Delahanty cards are not particularly plentiful with just three mainstream "playing days" issues. This example generously graded GOOD 2 (MK) by PSA is well-worn but still presentable the MK qualifier referring to ink markings on the card reverse.
