Hal Chase known as "Prince Hal " was one of the most popular players of his time. Widely regarded by his peers as the best first baseman ever his defensive exploits with the Yankees were legendary. Sadly his legacy is one that it marked by corruption and cheating as Chase had a reputation for gambling - and even helping to throw - baseball games. Today due to his colorful nature reputation for great defensive play and to a lesser degree the darker parts of his legacy Chase remains a widely collected player perhaps the most popular deadball era player not currently in the Hall of Fame. The T206 issue contains five different cards of Chase. Presented here are four beautiful specimens each marked by exquisite color centering and overall eye appeal. Assembled by a dedicated collector with an outstanding eye for cards each example appears very strong for its technical grade and each contains a different back variety. The lot includes:• Throwing White Cap pose (Piedmont 150 back) SGC EX+ 70• Throwing Dark Cap pose (Piedmont 350 back) PSA VG-EX+ 4.5• Portrait Blue Background pose (Old Mill back) SGC VG 40• Portrait Pink Background (Sweet Caporal back) SGC VG/EX 50An excellent assortment of cards from one of the era"s great players one of the first Yankee heroes and a legendary figure in the history of prewar baseball.
