Real photo postcard featuring a composite photo of the 1938 San Diego Padres of the PCL. The Padres roster contained a number of players who saw major league action of the course of their careers as well as team president Charles "Spider" Baum also known as "The Matty of the Minors." Baum a member of the PCL Hall of Fame won 20 games or better nine different seasons in his 19 year minor league career winning 327 lifetime games (267 in the PCL) and never pitching an inning in the majors. The card itself has been graded GOOD 30 by SGC due to scrapbook damage on the reverse but even that damage is not severe. The front of the card however presents as an EX card. Composite photos are among the more interesting collectibles in the prewar hobby this is an interesting piece featuring a number of successful players along with Spider Baum.
