With "Semanario De Sports" (Sports Weekly) printed in the masthead, El Score appears to have been a Cuban publication and scorecard. Printed on unbelievably delicate (almost tissue) paper, it is extraordinary that this piece has survived since its September 25, 1908 publication date. With a cover image featuring Grant "Home Run" Johnson (the caption lists him as the manager of the Philadelphia Giants, though he was no longer in Philadelphia in 1908), the interior pages feature boxscores and game summaries from a variety of games in and out of Cuba, including a game with the New Britain Perfectos, a team that included Armando Marsans, Rafael Almeida, and Luis Padrón. The 8-page booklet is well-worn, with some tears on the back cover repaired with clear tape, a few insect holes, and the pages torn away from the spine - definitely POOR condition. However, the piece presents extremely well, an incredibly rare document of Cuban baseball at the turn of the century.
