Extraordinarily rare the cards formerly known simply as "1921 Baltimore Orioles" have recently been identified as White's Bakery Baltimore Orioles. Issued only in the Baltimore area on a one-a-day basis the cards were included in loaves of White's Tip Top Bread. The sepia-toned cards are susceptible to severe condition flaws due to their method of distribution and the thin stock on which they were printed. However the cards are extremely beautiful oversized (3 1/4" x 5 1/2") each featuring a beautiful player photo and identifying information printed at the bottom of the card in an elegant typeface. This card features outfielder Bill Holden author of a 13-season minor league career that included two with the Orioles. Holden was an excellent offensive player with Baltimore hitting .352 in 1920 and .302 in 1921. His major league career was brief and not quite as successful just two seasons with the Yankees and Reds and a .211 lifetime batting average. The card graded FAIR 20 by SGC due to significant wrinkling still presents very well the photo crisp and clear one of the most rare and beautiful issues of the era.
