Stunning example of the 1961 Fleer basketball set, along with 1957 Topps and 1986 Fleer, part of the "Big Three" in basketball sets.  Containing the first card of Wilt Chamberlain, the set features colorful text fields, typography and image backgrounds, all offsetting black and white player photos.  Notorious for print defects and centering issues, assembling a higher-grade 1961 Fleer set is a difficult proposition.

Fifteen cards have been graded by PSA, as follows: PSA NM 7 (4 cards): #32 Naullis, #33 Ohl, #35 Ramsey, #55 Dukes IA; PSA EX-MT 6 (3 cards): #8 Chamberlain, #36 Robertson, #61 Robertson IA; PSA EX+ 5.5 (1 card): #43 West;  PSA EX 5 (3 cards): #44 Wilkins, #46 Baylor IA, #62 Russell IA, PSA VG-EX 4 (4 cards): #22 Jones, #38 Russell, #47 Chamberlain IA, #49 Cousy IA. The remainder of the set grades approximately 6$ NM, 22% EX-MT, 33% EX, 25% VG-EX and 14% VG, with the primary condition issue being related to centering.  Seven cards, all of which we graded VG for the purpose of the condition breakdown above, are sharp but have the most egregious centering issues: #3 Baylor (which we submitted to PSA but was returned for minimum size issues), #10 Cousy, #16, #17, #23 Jones, #29 and #39. Simply a wonderful mid to higher-grade example of a beautiful set, one of the finest issues in the basketball hobby. 66 cards total.
