The first series of cards in the T206 set were issued beginning in 1909 in cigarette and loose tobacco packs through 16 different brands owned by the American Tobacco Company. It is a landmark set in the history of baseball card collecting due to its size and rarity, with cards of over 500 major and minor-league players issued in the set through 1911. It is known informally as the "White Border" set due to the distinctive white borders surrounding the quality color lithographs on each card.

Buck Herzog sits in his beautifully clean white sweater in front of a blue background in this whimsical offering. The tougher "Boston" variation of the card, centering is gorgeous with only some extremely minor diamond cutting which leaves the top left corner just a hair higher than the right. Corners and edges are consistent with the grade. Registration is nearly perfect, but does probably keep the card from grading even higher than it already has, as well as some light soiling near the bottom left corner and along the top edge. The tough Sovereign back is bold and clean, with only some light soiling in the bottom right corner and near the center. The card's color and clarity make it one of the more attractive examples in the entire T206 issue.

SGC has only ever graded 18 total examples of this T206 with a Sovereign back, with only five receiving a higher grade than the VG 3 offered here of Boston's Buck Herzog.
