Second-year card of underrated Hall of Famer Rod Carew. As a rookie in
1967, Carew batted .292, capturing Rookie of the Year honors. His
sophomore season was a bit off, as his average dropped to .273. Beginning in 1969, however, Carew rattled off a string of 15
consecutive .300 seasons, reaching .388 and winning the MVP in 1977. Ultimately, he finished his career with 3,053 hits and a lifetime
batting average of .328, one of the greatest players of his era.
This example is centered slightly east on the canvas, but its sharp corners, crisp edges, and bright, bold colors still give it tremendous eye appeal.
SGC has graded 902 total examples of this 1968 Topps, with only nineteen receiving a higher grade than the NM-MT 8 offered here of Hall of Famer Rod Carew.
