Julius "Dr. J" Erving was just getting his Hall of Fame pro basketball career underway when the 1972 Topps set was issued. Erving helped keep the fledgling ABA afloat with his talent, class and charisma, although initially under the radar as a Virginia Squire.
Presented here is his highly desired rookie card, graded a PSA 2 with the period ballpoint autograph from "The Doctor" scoring a solid 7. This is an essential debut card in the basketball hobby and the vintage signature is eye catching and well placed.
Note on the reverse it appears Erving inked the back of the card, where it is marked over, but it does not detract at all from his penmanship gracing the front.
