Beautiful image of Ty Cobb as distributed in August of 1909 by the Sporting News as part of an issue that featured 100 different supplements distributed between 1909 and 1913. This example is quite pleasing, despite the PR 1 grade assessed by PSA. The grade speaks largely to heavy wear and creasing along the bottom right corner, resulting in some small tears. Some additional small edge tears contribute to the grade. The supplements are extremely delicate and susceptible to damage, as they are printed on very lightweight paper. Still, as PSA begins to grade more examples from the issue, their scarcity becomes more apparent, as each supplement was, essentially, issued on one day and then became part of history. As such, the keys from this issue have become quite sought after in any grade.
