Beautiful midgrade photo of future Hall of Famer Larry Doby, the first Black player in the American League. Graded EX 5 by SGC, the photo is sharp, with very little evidence of wear, a clean example of what is Doby's first collectible. The lightweight stock on which these photos are printed, coupled with their size, makes them susceptible to flaws, however, and SGC has found enough to reduce the technical grade to EX. To accommodate the thin photo, PSA has encapsulated it inside a mylar baggie that is very difficult to scan properly, leaving some reflection from the scanner bulb that could be easily mistaken for flaws in the image, if we didn't tell you about them here. However, we are telling you: what you see in the image that could appear to be a discoloration, to the right of Doby's cap, to the left of his cheek, around his neckline and in the team name on his jersey, are reflections of the scanner bulb on the mylar.
