In Bowman's final year issuing baseball cards, the 1955 issue capitalized on the growing popularity of color television by featuring each player's image set into a design intended to look like a television. Each player's image was made to look like it was on the screen, a concept which worked well over the course of this lengthy issue. Interestingly enough, The Mick was Bowman-only for 1954 and 1955, with the 1955 card  picturing a young Mantle in his road grays, having just finished a practice swing. At a time when Topps was reusing many images from year to year, Bowman featured some fine original lens work in their final baseball set, and this example is no exception.

This example shows some wear, typical for this full-bleed set, along the right and bottom edges, along with softer corners, but still presents a clear, strong image of Mickey. Centering is strong, possibly slightly north on the canvas as you look at the card horizontally, as it is intended to be viewed. Graded EX 5 by PSA, this is an extremely attractive early card of Mantle, whose Bowman issues are beginning to rise in closer relation to the Topps cards of similar years.
