Among the more scarce and desirable cards of the 1950's, the Home Run Derby cards were a 20-card unnumbered set produced by American Motors to help publicize their sponsored Home Run Derby television show. The set contains many of the day's superstar sluggers including Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and Ernie Banks, depicted here in this example. Graded a strong 5 by PSA, the card presents very well with a clear and striking image and corners. There are only (6) graded higher. 1959 Home Run Derby cards are scarce and highly desirable with considerable value. Banks is one of the key Hall of Famers in the set.
