Important premium issued by a Canadian radio show which issued many premiums in the late 1940s, including many boxers. In general, the premiums are difficult to find, and the complete checklist is still unknown. This example is historically significant, because it features a young Jackie Robinson, then with the 1946 Montreal Royals, before officially breaking the color barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers the following season. A true pre-rookie card featuring one of the greatest names in all of collecting, and certainly one of the most important names in sports, from a difficult-to-find foreign issue. The premium has been graded PR 1 by PSA, though the appearance at a glance is EX or even EX-MT. Close inspection reveals a pair of tiny edge tears along the right side of the card, which contribute to the low technical grade but are barely noticeable as the paper lies flat on itself, particularly when encapsulated in the holder. The historical importance of this piece cannot be overstated, a true pre-rookie of Jackie Robinson.
