"Handsome Jack" Carney played 69 games for the Washington Nationals in 1889, with 53 of those appearances coming at First Base for the National League club. Carney has five different
cards in
the N172 set. This
issue depicts him ready to throw the ball in his right hand as he holds it head high.
The image is light, but you can still see the tiny glove on Carney's non-throwing hand. The image displays a slight ghost print, more easily visible when looking at the text near the bottom of the card, and the back has some minor staining. The card has received a grade of Authentic for reasons we cannot ascertain through the holder, though the appearance remains strong. This is the only example of this pose that PSA has ever graded.
