It is our opinion that Jackie Robinson is the most important figure of modern sport, along with Babe Ruth is one of the two most important figures in baseball and even ranks as one of the most important figures in American history. His impact cannot be measured, certainly not with numbers or MVP awards or World Championships.  Offered here is one of the most important cards of the 1948 Leaf set, the rookie card of the great Jackie Robinson. Featuring a bright yellow background offsetting Robinson's legendary blue Brooklyn Dodgers cap, this card is a strong example of one of the most important Robinson cards - one of two different cards issued in 1948 (the other from Bowman) featuring a portrait of the rookie phenom.

The card has attained a grade of VG-EX 4 from PSA, well-centered but with some corner and surface wear that might render the grade a tad generous.  Centering and print registration are far above average for the issue, however, perhaps compensating for the aforementioned flaws.  A beautiful midgrade card, perhaps the most important baseball card of its decade.
