Distributed as premiums to promote Goudey gum and given away in retail stores, the cards we know today as "Wide Pen" cards were actually issued in three different formats (plus two more suspected to be distributed in Canada), given their nicknames due to the thick facsimile autograph gracing each card.  This group of 19 cards are of the borderless variety, measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", with the image going right to the edge of the cards.  These have been classified as "Type 3" or "R314B-2" and were actually issued in 1935. A complete set is comprised of 24 cards; we offer 19 here, averaging GOOD condition with creasing and general wear evident throughout.  Collection includes Almada, Appling (HOF), Clifton, Cramer, Fox, Foxx (HOF), Greenberg (HOF), Hildebrand, Hooks, Huddling, Knickerbocker, Manush (HOF), O'Neill, Owen, Simmons (HOF), Solters, Trotsky, and Vosmik. 19 cards total.
