In 1949, the NL Champion Boston Braves helped raise money for The Jimmy Fund, a Boston-area children's cancer charity that has long had the support of the Boston sports teams (and quite notably, Ted Williams). As part of their efforts, a set of 25 cardboard die-cut figures were created, each measuring between 6" and 8" in height, and intended to accompany contribution boxes into which store patrons could drop donations. Each easel-backed cardboard die-cut featured a sepia-toned player photo set against a stylized baseball, with a facsimile signature and a "Thank You in behalf of 'Jimmy.'" These pieces are extremely rare today, virtually never found in strong condition due to their intended use.
Presented here are two unused die cuts, in their original mailing envelopes. Featuring Phil Masi and Sibby Sisti, each are in EX+ condition with minor wear at the die cut edges, mostly protected by having been stored in their original envelopes (which appear in a condition closer to VG). Particularly rare, especially in this condition. Two die-cuts total.
