Trio of ticket stubs from important boxing title fights, each featuring Jack Dempsey.  Collection includes the following: 1) July 4, 1923 Jack Dempsey vs. Tom Gibbons "Sack of Shelby" Ringside ticket stub: GOOD condition with an irregular tear at the perf, along with overall wear. Dempsey won this fight by decision in 15 rounds, in the process bankrupting an entire town.  Hoping to gain national attention, the town negotiated a price of $300,000 to host the fight, and when they could not make the payments, had to give the boxers the entire gate receipts.   2) July 21, 1927 Jack Dempsey vs. Jack Sharkey Yankee Stadium ticket stub:  POOR condition with writing throughout, though the writing is historically significant as it describes the events of the day, the purse, and the crowd size. Dempsey won this fight by knockout in the 7th round, the knockout occurring as Sharkey was protesting a series of low blows to the referee.  3) September 22, 1927 Jim Tunney vs. Jack Dempsey "The Long Count" Soldier Field ticket stub: POOR condition with creasing and wrinkling along with several ink stains.  Well-known match won by Tunney in a unanimous decision, despite the fact that Tunney was knocked down in the 7th round and was able to recover because the count was delayed while Dempsey failed to remain in a neutral corner.  Three important vintage boxing stubs total.
