Beautiful 1887 Yale Bulldogs baseball scorecard featuring Amos Alonzo Stagg. Stagg was a well-known college football coach compiling a 314-199-35 lifetime record. He played football as an end at Yale and was on the very first All-America team selected in 1889. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach and a player in the charter class of 1951. Stagg was also a pitcher on his college baseball team at Yale as evidenced by this 1887 scorecard though he did not continue playing baseball after his college career came to an end. The scorecard is in FAIR condition without respect to the pencil scoring (Yale appears to have won the game by a 14-2 margin) with wear at the spine edges and to a lesser degree the corners. A large swath of paper loss on the reverse is responsible for the lower technical grade. An outstanding piece of memorabilia related to baseball but containing information on one of the game's most heralded football players.
