Among the more unique retail advertising displays of the early 1900s were those of the Winchester Sporting Goods company. The company produced a large wooden display that consisted of three sections hinged together, into which double-sided advertising posters could be inserted, each advertising a different facet of the company's products. This particular panel measures 18 1/4" x 40 1/4" and features catchers gear on one side, camping gear on the reverse. Unrestored, the advertising sign exhibits significant wear, with a heavy crease near the bottom and significant areas of paper loss and staining at the edges. The hinged display also exhibits wear, and some chipping to the wood, including a missing wood slat, and the letter "r" in "Winchester" worn away. An unrestored example of a very desirable advertising display piece.
