The Diamond Stars issue was produced by National Chicle and issued in packs of Diamond Stars gum of a period of three years. Due to the multiple years of issue, a variety of card backs exist; a total of 170 different cards make up a master set, the basic set numbering 108. Featuring beautiful art deco designs that dovetail with the National Chicle football and "Sky Birds" issues, the set is one of the most underrated prewar issues in the hobby likely due to the absence of a Ruth or a Gehrig in the set. Loaded with Hall of Famers stars and variations the set is challenging to complete in any grade.  Presented here is an extremely colorful collection of 29 cards, from the estate of the original owner, who collected these cards in the 1930s.  Part of a gum card era collection we have been offering in our last three auctions, these cards are exceptional, certainly handled but well cared for by their owner and subsequently, his children.  A few have the telltale signs of scrapbook removal and additional signs of wear, but the overall condition is VG/EX to EX with some lesser and a few stronger. Egregious condition issues are noted below.

The collection includes the following: #1 Grove (HOF - POOR), #5, #22, #23, #27 Trainer (HOF - FAIR), #30 Manush (HOF - POOR w/scrapbook remnants on reverse), #32 Rice (HOF), #42, #45, #49, #53, #56, #59 Bottomley (HOF), #62, #67, #71 (FAIR), #85, #86, #87 (POOR), #88, #90, #92, #94, #95, #96, #97 Lopez (HOF), #100 Averill. (HOF, EX appearance, writing on reverse), #106, #107 (POOR).  A strong grouping of cards from an underrated but beautiful set.  29 cards total.
