c.1910's original Swede Risberg photograph from the lens of Charles Martin Conlon. Risberg played shortstop for baseball's most infamous team, the 1919 Chicago White Sox, and remains one of eight players history remembers as the "Black Sox" for conspiring to throw the 1919 World Series. Though acquitted at pubic trail, Risberg and his co-conspirators were permanently banned from organized baseball for life in 1921 by then-commissioner Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis. 8" x 10" photo remains in excellent overall condition with typical wear to corners consistent with Conlon photos stored in newspaper archives for many decades. Verso remains clean aside from Conlon's personal credit stamping at center and his handwritten identifier of Risberg along the top. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
