Attractive horizontal card of Stan Musial, issued by "Homogenized" Bond Bread in 1947, part of a 48-card set that included 44 baseball players and four boxers. Often considered Musial's rookie card, this example has been graded VG/EX 4 by SGC, with very light wear, mostly in the form of some soiling on the reverse. The borderless photos include a facsimile autograph, and were typically found with rounded corners, though the Standard Catalog makes reference to square-cornered cards as well. Since Musial played his first game in 1941 but national baseball sets did not resume until 1948, a handful of less mainstream Musial issues released before his 1948 cards have become highly prized among collectors. An extremely sharp example, in very high demand among rookie card collectors.
