Issued between 1890 and 92 by the Nelson Morris company, promoting their Lily Leaf brand of lard, this colorful advertising trade card depicts a group of pigs playing baseball in front of other porcine spectators, a number of other pigs in the background sitting in (or falling out of) trees watching the game. The Chicago-based company printed their product line on the reverse leaving space for price to be written in for "tierces" (a unit of measurement) of lard. Measuring 3 3/8" x 6 1/8", the interesting and humorous card grades POOR due to some creasing at the right edge that has been repaired on the reverse with what appears to be a thin strip of masking or framer's tape.
