It is often been believed that the Baby Ruth candy bar was named after the ballplayer.  The Curtiss Candy Company debuted the confection in 1921 and claimed that the candy was named after the daughter of President Grover Cleveland, Ruth Cleveland. Anecdotal evidence supports that claim, despite the fact that Ruth Cleveland passed away 17 years before the candy bar was born.  

Though we do not know what the brand of cigars were named after, we can find a trademark request for "Baby Ruth Cigars" made by A.A. Young & Co. of Red Lion, PA in 1926.  This handsome wood box measures 9 1/4" x 5 3/4" x 2 1/2" and has the brand name emblazoned on the outer lid ass well as the inner label.  The lid and hinge is fully intact and functional, some visible wear to the outer labels and corners reducing the technical grade but certainly not the exceptional eye appeal.
