Very attractive mid-grade complete set of 598 cards. 15% range from EX-MT to better grades 18% EX 36% VG/EX 25% VG and 8% G and lower grades including a few trimmed. This set was acquired by a dedicated collector as a low grade near-set and the collector has over a period of years painstakingly completed the set one card at a time gradually upgrading card by card. The result is an extremely attractive midgrade set with very few creases a large assortment of upper-middle and higher-grade examples that have been hand-picked at card shows and an outstanding project for a dedicated collector who wishes to build the most condition-sensitive Topps set of the 1960s. Due to the nature of how this set was assembled the more difficult high number series have a greater percentage of EX and better cards than the lower numbers; it seems as if the original near-set was probably lacking in high-number cards. The collector has also taken great care to avoid the green-tinted versions of the high-number cards. The result is a very consistent set.The 1962 Topps set is an extremely condition-sensitive set due to the dark woodgrain borders and their sensitivity to chipping. The set is filled with specialty cards including All-Stars World Series cards statistical leaders Babe Ruth highlights and more. The condition challenge coupled with the many different subsets make this a popular set among collectors. The set"s high-numbers make this a difficult one to complete.
