Known for sun-splashed images of its subjects, the 1939 Play Ball set
marked the first of three issues from Gum, Inc., the predecessor of
Bowman. This gorgeous DiMaggio is just low and left of center, otherwise it surely would have graded even higher than it already did by achieving an EX-MT+ 6.5 from BVG. This year's cards are known for foxing, and while there is some very light foxing on the back, that does not impact the front in any way. The DiMaggio is one of the key cards to the issue,
which is rapidly growing in popularity.
