There are two different George Browne cards included in the T206 set. While there have been four men named George Brown to play Major League Baseball over the years, the man featured on this card was not one of them. While the card reads "BROWN," the subject here actually spelled his name "BROWNE," which was not corrected on the cards, but has been noted by PSA on the label. While Brown played only 12 games with the Cubs, his Chicago card is more commonly found than the Washington version offered here.

Crisp edges and two sharp corners with great centering give this example fantastic eye appeal. The two other corners are only minimally softer, but still present well. The apparent color loss on the bill of Browne's cap is actually a print defect appearing on all of his cards, not just the one being offered here. The Sovereign back is beautifully centered and clean, showing off the fantastic green ink as if the card was just printed. Some light tobacco staining on the bottom of the front gives the card some character. PSA has only ever graded 37 total examples of this Sovereign back version of the Browne, with only 5 receiving a higher grade than the EX 5 offered here.

George Edward Browne scored 95+ runs each year from 1903 to 1905, leading the league with 99 in 1904. He had 5 hits, 2 stolen bases, and scored 2 runs in the 1905 World Series, helping the New York Giants defeat the Philadelphia Athletics 4 games to 1.
