The majority of Marquard’s portrait cards have a simple period after
the ‘N’ on his jersey. However, a small amount - including this example - have a separate line mark
at the bottom of it, giving the appearance of a backwards comma. Because the ‘comma’ is part of the picture, it is not a typed errant
punctuation mark. Rather, it was likely the
result of a printing plate issue causing an extra mark.
Plenty of condition issues warrant the Authentic grade on this offering, from the staining, creasing, and color loss, to the damaged edges and holes in the card. However, any print errors in the T206 set are highly collectible, especially those on the cards of Hall of Famers.
