Hal Chase has five different cards in the T206 set, more than any other subject. This version depicts the New York Highlanders First Baseman rearing back to throw a ball while wearing his white uniform and white cap. A green grass background with a blue sky adds some color to the card, which has nice, sharp edges. Soft corners and some slight diamond cutting keep the card from grading even higher than it already has, with the centering just barely west on the canvas. The printing on the Sweet Cap back is dark and bold, but there are some surface abrasions which appear to be ink from a different card previously pressed up against the back of this card. Nevertheless, SGC has only ever graded 99 total examples of this Sweet Caporal back version of the Chase, with only SIX receiving a higher grade than the EX 5 offered here.
