We have made the decision to break up an EXTRAORDINARY 1963 Topps set - the #4 Master Set on the PSA Set Registry. The 1963 set is a particularly difficult set to complete in high grade due to Topps' poor quality control in the era which resulted in considerable print defects. The large and colorful border at the bottom simultaneously lends a distinctive design element and a condition challenge, as they are extremely susceptible to chipping and wear.

The example offered here is card #331, Series Foes, graded MINT 9. Bills Stafford and Pierce of the Yankees and Giants, respectively, grace the front of this entry in the 1963 Topps set. The two faced off in Game 3 of the previous year's World Series, with the Series tied 1-1. Both pitchers threw brilliantly, but Stafford and the Yankees won the game on the back of his 4-hitter. They would eventually take the Series in 7 games.

This card's brilliantly white border immediately pops out, while the green bottom border adds some color. All four corners are nice and sharp, while the edges are strong, as well. Centering is great, and while it looks like the card may have some slight diamond cutting, that is actually a minor print registration error with the green bottom border. A couple fisheyes in the bottom left corner of that green section also help explain why this card didn't grade even higher than it already has.

Only 1 example graded by PSA has ever received a higher grade than the MINT 9 offered here.
