We have made the decision to break up an EXTRAORDINARY 1963 Topps set - the #4 Master Set on the PSA Set Registry. The 1963 set is a particularly difficult set to complete in high grade due to Topps' poor quality control in the era which resulted in considerable print defects. The large and colorful border at the bottom simultaneously lends a distinctive design element and a condition challenge, as they are extremely susceptible to chipping and wear.

The example offered here is card #391, Bill Dailey, graded MINT 9. Dailey only pitched for four seasons in the Major Leagues, but 1963 was a great year for him, saving 21 games for the Tribe and finishing 23rd in MVP voting. The vintage Cleveland hat with a red "C" behind the "Chief Wahoo" logo is on full display in this portrait of the pitcher. Fantastic corners and edges here, with centering just west on the canvas. Minor registration issues with the green bottom border and orange circle inset are common to the set, but keep the card from grading even higher than it already has. A couple fisheyes in the green border area and in the background near the right border help further explain the card not grading at a 10.

Nevertheless, you won't find a nicer example of this card. And that isn't hyperbole. Not a single example ever seen by PSA has received a higher grade than the card offered here.
