There are two different Conroy cards included in the T206
set. One shows him posing with a bat against his right shoulder, and this action shot depicts the defensively versatile Conroy fielding. This version is easily the rarer of the two. The white border, along with Wid's white cap and uniform almost create a 3D effect against the multiple beautiful shades of green in the card's background.
Centering is ever so slightly west on the canvas, with slightly rounded corners. The card's technical grade can be explained by the left and bottom edges, which have each endured a couple indentations. Nevertheless, this card presents beautifully, with a back that is clean and legible. PSA has
only ever graded 9 total
examples of this Old Mill back version of the Conroy, with
only 3 receiving a
higher grade than the VG 3 offered here.
William Edward "Wid" Conroy
stole 20 or more bases in 8 of his first 9 seasons, including a career-high 41 in 1907.
