A regal portrait of the pitcher/outfielder against a deep red background, this card is centered just slightly north on the canvas but features strong, consistent borders. The main reason for the technical grade is a crease in the lower right corner of the card, which also has soft, rounded corners and some chipping along the left edge. PSA has only ever graded 18 total
examples of this El Principe de Gales back version of the Barger, with only six receiving a
higher grade than the VG 3 offered here.
Cy Barger spent time in each of the three Major Leagues of the day, including two years with the New York Highlanders (later Yankees) in the American League, three years with the Brooklyn Superbas/Dodgers in the National League, and two years with the Pittsburgh Rebels in the Federal League. This card depicts the pitcher/outfielder as a member of the Rochester Bronchos of the Eastern League, where he played from 1907-1909.
