His given name was Stanley George Bordagary but everybody called him Frenchy, except possibly Branch Rickey who assessed him as "either the poorest great third baseman or greatest poor third baseman." He was, in short, a character and famously sported a mustache after a small film role came his way in 1935. This 1939 Play Ball is graded PSA 4 (MK) due to some pencil on the reverse but the autograph on the front is a nice one, signed as "Frenchy" in blue ink in an elaborate hand with nice flourishes.  PSA/DNA has graded the signature NM-MT 8, possibly due to some minor ink flow issues but it looks like a great signature to us.  The card originates from the Shibe Park collection of autographed cards, an original owner collection carefully collected by a teenage boy who, in 1939 and 1940, obtained many autographs from players arriving at the train station near Shibe Park, and continued for many years to obtain signatures in person and through the mail.
