The 1978 Topps regular issue included the "true" rookie card of Alan Trammell, the eventual Hall of Famer pictured on the same card as fellow Hall of Famer Paul Molitor, eventual Royals star U.L. Washington (who passed away during the assembly of this auction) and Mickey Klutts, a journeyman infielder who began his career trying to break into an infield that included Graig Nettles, Bucky Dent and Willie Randolph.
For the 1978 Burger King Tigers issue, the company saw fit to create a single card for Trammell, already a budding star who had finished fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting. This example of that card has been graded MINT 9 by PSA, nearly perfect, with centering a tad to the left keeping it from a perfect grade.
