A criminally underrated set, the 1963 Fleer issue featured simple, full-color photographs set against a stark, white background, preferring to let the photos tell the story rather than bury the images in design. The result is an attractive set in virtually any condition.

The 1963 issue was Fleer's first attempt at issuing baseball cards of current players, but a lawsuit from Topps stopped the production of the set at one series of 67 cards. It would be 18 years before the company would produce another set of current players.

Card #56 in the set is a gorgeous portrait of Roberto Clemente. It is one of the very few cards issued during his playing career that correctly identifies him as "Roberto" instead of as "Bob" which he despised being called. This example is graded EX-NM+ 6.5 by SGC and has beautiful centering, often an issue with this set. The bright yellows and dark blacks have stayed true, with nice corners and edges, as well. A card with tremendous eye appeal.
