Pair of original news service photos depicting obscure Yankees outfielder, Bill Lamar. Lamar appears reaching for a ball in the smaller of the two examples, measuring 6.5" x 8.5" and bearing credit stamping from International on verso. Larger of the photos is an intimate 8" x 10" portrait of Lamar at the age of 21. Shot by Charles Martin Conlon, with his personal credit stamping and pencil notations on verso of print, we can positively date this image to 1918 when the Yankees wore red, white, and blue World War I memorial arm bands on their left sleeve. Both photos remain in excellent condition and together provide a compelling look at this early Yankee in his home pinstripes.
