Pair of original news service photos from the desk of Charles Martin Conlon, the Deadball Era's preeminent early on-field photographer. Both photos depict Cuban hurler, Adolfo Domingo de Guzman "Dolf" Luque, a.k.a Adolfo Luque during his time with the Cincinnati Reds. Based upon the background and Luque's uniform style in both photos it's fair to conclude the images were captured sometime between 1918-24 at the Polo Grounds. The first photo measures X" x X" and is a classic Conlon portrait image with Luque framed nicely by the top portion of his dugout. Accompanying the portrait is a wonderful 6.5" x 8.5" photo of Luque in full uniform finishing his delivery. Both examples remain in excellent overall condition and include both Conlon's personal credit stamping and handwritten identifiers on verso. A small piece of the upper-right corner of the portrait photo has been repaired with clear tape on verso which also displays some modern notations in ballpoint. Two photos total.
